About Tammy Oliver Cook

Tammy Oliver Cook is a visual artist known for her light-filled landscapes and still life that capture the endless magic of the moment with oil pigments. Often influenced by life, she also finds inspiration in the ethereal works of 19th century masters, George Inness and J.W. Turner. Like Inness, she sees the natural world as a projection of “Spirit” (God). Tammy doesn’t copy nature, but hopes to reimagine it, to see beyond. Her rich color and soft, tranquil atmosphere captivate and comfort. With close color harmonies, lost edges and loose but disciplined brush strokes, she captures a more peaceful view of life. Oil Painters with whom she has studied include Bob Tompkins, Shanna Kunz, Dawn Whitelaw, Roger Dale Brown, Richard Kelso and Sammy Britt. She is a member of the Mississippi Plein Air Painters, Mississippi Artists Guild, Oxford Artists Guild, Associate member of the Oil Painters’ of America, The Portrait Society of America and the American Impressionist Society. Her works have been exhibited in juried shows locally and nationally. Tammy is grateful for the colorful ribbons she has been awarded over her long career as an oil painter.
