About Chesley Pearman
I was born 4th generation in The Mississippi Delta into a family that encouraged me from childhood to pursue writing, music, and painting. I abandoned painting - for the most part - as a teen, only returning to it occasionally over most of my life. Encouraged by Delta artist Duff Durrough, I returned to The Delta and painting some years ago to study with Duff, Sammy Britt, and Gerald Deloach. All painting is experimentation to me, and I wouldn’t necessarily call my painting any style. I’ve had many influences, ranging from writers and poets to musicians and classical painters as well as more contemporary painters, photographers, and filmmakers. The most important influence on me has been The South, Mississippi, The Delta - its places and people.
