About Sarah Teasley

Sarah received her BFA from Delta State University (2006) and her MFA from The University of Mississippi (2010). In addition to a formal education, she worked as an Artist in Residence for Burns Pottery (2004) in Natchez, MS and completed two internships with sculptor Beth Cavener-Stichter (2008 & 2009). Sarah exhibits her work nationally through juried competitions and gallery representation. She has also been published in 500 Figures in Clay Vol.2 by Lark Crafts. She currently lives in Raymond, MS where she teaches art full time at Hinds Community College. When Sarah is not teaching, she works at her studio producing sculptures and functional pottery. Her current work encompasses a variety of hand-building techniques with surfaces that range from low-fire to high-fire and cold-finishes. For Sarah, animals serve as a metaphor for human character, allowing her to explore personalities and examine relationships. Layers of graffiti, glaze and wax add depth so that understanding only develops with examination and reflection.
